[NextcloudPi]: Data on btrfs partition - frequent error messages

Dear NCP colleagues,

I have created a new partition on an external SSD for my Nextcloud data directories using the NCP Web Panel. Accordingly, the partition was created as btrfs volume. Shortly after one of the last NCP updates (I do not remember, from which version onward it started), I frequently receive the following btrfs error messages every 3-7 days:

The following error messages always appear together:
Dez 11 09:15:08 NextcloudPi kernel: BTRFS: error (device sda1) in write_all_supers:3668: errno=-5 IO failure (errors while submitting device barriers.)
Dez 11 09:15:08 NextcloudPi kernel: BTRFS: error (device sda1) in cleanup_transaction:1881: errno=-5 IO failure

Further I receive the error messages:
Dez 03 05:45:09 NextcloudPi kernel: BTRFS error (device sda1): cleaner transaction attach returned -30

and
Dez 04 02:45:09 NextcloudPi kernel: BTRFS error (device sda1): bdev /dev/sda1 errs: wr 0, rd 0, flush 1, corrupt 0, gen 0

I checked the SMART status of the SSD, and this does not point to any error.

Somehow I cannot find the proper documentation with respect to btrfs to give me as a newbie the insight to understand and interpret the above errors.

  • Are these some critical errors? If yes, how do I mitigate them?
  • Where can I find a good documentation (with examples!) to help me better understand these errors?

Any help is very much appreciated.

Best regards
LittleAlf

doesn’t look good, but it seems that SMART doesn’t find anything. Try checking the filesystem with the BTRFS tools
