Nextcloud Win Client V2.6 > SkipUpdateCheck not working

Hello @all,

testing the rollout from new Nextcloude Win Client V2.6.

At V2.5 there was a registry option to disable the update check of the client:

Reg-Key: HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Nextcloud GmbH\Nextcloud
Value-Name: skipUpdateCheck
Value-Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 1

It seems, that this reg key is not working anymore in Win Client V2.6. The Nextcloud client shows in settings the info: “Aktualisierungsserver wird überprüft…” (“Update server is checked…”) .

Can anyone confim this? Is there another solution to disable the automatic client update?

Hi folks,
similar problem here. But Client 2.5 shows that there’s an update to 2.6.
So isn’t this a problem of client 2.5 with mentioned GPO settings?

Are there any news?

In cause of https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/issues/1485 we don’t use the new V2.6 Client, so i have not tested the update of the V2.6 client any more.

running 2.6.2 on x64 windows
the setting which was honoured was:
reg add “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nextcloud GmbH\Nextcloud” /v skipUpdateCheck /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
the similar setting in WOW6432Node was ignored.

perhaps they changed to code to check the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Nextcloud GmbH\Nextcloud key on both x86 & x64?

in any event it looks like the documentation is out of step with reality.

edit:
this one works too (documentation is correct)
reg add “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Nextcloud GmbH\Nextcloud” /v skipUpdateCheck /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f
