Nextcloud Snap with Collabora Online - Android problems

Hello,

I am using the current Nextcloud Snap version (33.0.5) and have installed Collabora code on the same computer as docker compose.

Until recently, this combination worked without issues, and we were able to edit and save documents while on the go using the Nextcloud app on an Android tablet.

Then, presumably due to an update (Nextcloud App? Nextcloud Snap?), we have been able to open documents, but nothing gets saved.

Previously, in the Android app, you could see immediately after pressing “Save” that the document had been modified just a few seconds ago.

The error log is currently empty. What can I do to get it working again?

Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Nextcloud snap installation. If you’ve come this far, you’re on the right track! There is a good chance someone in the community has had a similar issue and knows how to resolve it.

In order to help you we’ll need some Information to get an Idea of your setup, so complete the required support template and post the output of the following command allowing us to look at your redacted configuration file:

sudo nextcloud.occ config:list

Nextcloud logs are very verbose, thus your logs will certainly help resolve your issue. access your logs by following how to manage Nextcloud snap logs or you could run the debugging script and post the result here or paste the result of the following command:

sudo tail -n 20 /var/snap/nextcloud/current/logs/nextcloud.log

Bar having any experience with Yunohost, recommend an issue request there.

the snap is self hosted, Collabora is hosted on YUNOHOST right?

please be clear, check the installed snap version sudo snap list and post results here

explain clearly how Collabora is installed on YUNOHOST, is that a docker install?

Nextcloud and Yunohost are self-hosted—both running on their own computers.

Here is a description of Yunohost:

YunoHost is an operating system aiming to simplify server administration and therefore democratize self-hosting while making sure it stays reliable, secure, ethical and lightweight. It is a copylefted libre software project maintained by volunteers. Technically, it can be seen as a server distribution based on Debian GNU/Linux.

YunoHost does not use “hard” containerization technologies such as Docker, for its apps. so this is certainly not a Nextcloud issue nor is it a snap issue. suggest you reach out to the YUNOHOST folks and inquire why Collabora doesn’t work as expected on YUNOHOST.

Hello,

I have now installed Collabora CODE on the same computer where Nextcloud is installed. I’ll need to test it out for a few days.

I have another question: I had installed some AI apps for testing purposes and experimented with them, but unfortunately, I didn’t get the results I had hoped for, so I uninstalled them.

Now, however, I’m seeing the following message on the overview page, and I’d like to know if—and how—I can get rid of it: “Task processing success rate: Many tasks have failed over the last 12 days. Please consider checking the Nextcloud logs for errors and verifying that the AI provider apps are correctly configured.”

It looks like there is a problem with the Android app. I can edit the documents in the browser and the changes are applied immediately, but when I open the documents via the Nextcloud app on Android, I can edit them, yet they don’t seem to be saving. Still no error logs…

this cannot be reproduced → works as expected on Android 16, v. 2026061601 and Nextcloud Dev Android app v. 20260507 from f-droid

at least tell us which app version you’re using on which android version…

On the tablet (Acepad): App version is 34.0.0 (June 8, 2026) from the Play Store; Android version is Android 15.

On the smartphone (Motorola Edge 20 Pro with LineageOS): App version is 34.0.0 (June 8, 2026) from the Play Store; Android version is LineageOS 23.2 (Android 16).

What else could be causing the lack of synchronization on the Android devices? I haven’t changed anything on the devices…

No log entries (log level 2) in Nextcloud. I haven’t checked Android yet; to be honest, I have to admit I’ve never actually looked at logs on Android.

on Pixel with GrapheneOS

also tested on Moto G7 power with LineageOS, Android 15 and Nextcloud Dev Android app v. 20260507 from f-droid, works as expected… so we should be able to rule out an Android app issue.

the only difference between the recommended Collabora CODE for Nextcloud with Docker and your setup seems to be the YUNOHOST bit… and you’re using Nextcloud Android app from Play Store.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I installed Collabora using Docker Compose.

Nextcloud and Collabora are now on the same computer.

This computer is behind an NPM proxy on the same network.

In the proxy itself, I enabled WebSockets and configured everything as described in the guides.

In the meantime, I opened the Collabora admin interface and monitored it for a bit. It shows that I currently have a document open and indicates whether I’ve made changes to it.

After I closed the Nextcloud app, it took anywhere from 10 to 120 seconds for Collabora to detect that the document was no longer open. Is that normal? It seems like a long time to me.

For instance, Collabora shows that the file was modified, yet the Nextcloud app—which usually displays the last edit time—might show something like “10 hours ago,” even though I had actually modified it just a few seconds earlier.

Another thing I noticed is that the domain of my cloud appears under “WOPI host” in the Collabora admin interface; however, in Nextcloud, I specified the internal IP of the NPM proxy for WOPI. If I enter a different IP or domain there, the documents no longer open. Is that correct?

that is not mentioned anywhere in the docs! neither for built-in CODE, nor for the Docker CODE install…

on the contrary, there’s a section with a tip:

Permitted client domain instead of WOPI clients, see example below

Prefer using - aliasgroup instead of - server_name for environment definition.

Aliasgroups ensures that only permitted encrypted client domains will be able to connect.

Define - aliasgroup iterating 1,2,3 for multiple encrypted client domains.

Be aware of the syntax for defining client domains using \\ as separator before .

Here are a few pictures of my settings… IP 192.168.179.88 is the Nextcloud server with Collabora CODE; IP 192.168.179.160 is the NPM proxy.

I’ve read the docs, and as far as I can tell, everything is configured correctly. The only thing I removed was the https:// before the domain name in the hosts file.
