Nextcloud Office running from Ubuntu/Apache will not open files in browser, using Collabora Demo Servers

Okay that’s a development setup. There are additional steps documented further down in the development setup documentation. It will be missing shipped apps, for example, some critical - since they are located in separate repositories.

Also, installing directly from the stable31 branch means you are actually deploying the in progress upcoming v31 maintenance release. It will not be fully tested.

Unless you’re doing development, use one of the normal documented install methods and download sources.

As I suspected, one of the apps you’re likely missing is the Viewer app since you installed using that approach. It is likely a significant part of your difficulties.

ok well I always follow up with git update --sub-modules or whatever that command is, so you can rest assured that happens as well

OK thank you maybe master is the ticket, it’s downloading now

Submodules are not the additional shipped apps. That’s entirely different.

Again, unless you’re doing development, if you expect community assistance… You’ll likely want to use a conventional install method.

P.S. master branch will just be worse (it’s got way more unreleased code in it) and has zero to do with your problems.

ā€œconventionalā€ ? is that the ā€œmasterā€ then? AH ok NOT master, so what is conventional .. from a package?

Conventional is what the docs describe.

See the Admin Manual

No git involved.
