Since the original post is closed I want to open a new one for discussion. Whenever there is a new release, there are still access issues, not as bad as before, but still prevalent. Are there any news for mirroring the nextcloud web server? Aren’t there universities open to hosting nextcloud and other open-source services?

I would like to point out the following feature request: Possibility to use a local Mirror · Issue #291 · nextcloud/updater · GitHub This is only indirectly related, but it would be an important step towards making mirrors usable “out of the box”.
Otherwise, a mirror is only useful if an update is installed completely by hand via zip/tar-file.
