Nextcloud Mail shows emails from 2026-04-17 and older without sender identification (?) across all connected accounts

Environment

  • Nextcloud AIO: 12.9.2

  • Nextcloud: 32.0.8

  • Nextcloud Mail: 5.7.12

Description
I noticed that emails dated 2026-04-17 and older are displayed in Nextcloud Mail without proper sender identification.

Instead of showing the sender name or avatar/initial, the message list shows only a question mark (?).

This does not seem to affect newer emails. From what I can see, the issue is limited to emails from 2026-04-17 and older.

This does not seem to affect just one mailbox. The issue appears across all connected email accounts.

Observed behavior

  • Emails dated 2026-04-17 and older are loaded in the message list

  • Sender identification is missing

  • Only a ? is shown instead of the sender

  • The issue is visible across multiple connected mail accounts

Expected behavior
Emails from 2026-04-17 and older should display the sender correctly, the same way as newer emails do.

Additional notes

  • This appears to affect only older messages, specifically emails from 2026-04-17 and older

  • Newer emails appear to load normally

  • I have attached a screenshot showing the behavior

  • At this stage, I am mainly looking for confirmation whether this is only happening in my instance, or whether someone else can reproduce or confirm the same behavior

Can reproduce
Yes, consistently in the Mail interface across all connected accounts.

can u find out when you did the last update?

I updated yesterday.

However, this was already happening on the previous version as well, so I updated in case it had already been fixed there. Unfortunately, the behavior is still the same after the update.

So from what I can tell, this is not something introduced only by the latest update.
