I have downloaded and installed ‘Nextcloud desktop client’ for MacOS desktop, seemingly without problems. However it does not launch. I am running a MacBook Pro MacOS Sonoma 14.6.1. Any suggestions how to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
In such a case, if a simple restart didn’t the job, it can help to open the client from a terminal and you can start it with a log window:
if it does not work, it perhaps already gives you an error. If you still have nothing, you can log directly into a file with this option --logdir /tmp/nextcloud_logs

Do you have a lot of icons at the top bar next to the clock?
If so, please close other apps using an icon in the top bar like time machine or airdrop. Then start nextcloud app.
There was a mysterious post here in the forum recently reporting this.
