Nextcloud desktop app for Macbook Air running Mojave OS

I am running latest Mojave 10.14 on MacBook Air and downloaded the desktop app no problem for Nextcloud 2.3.3

When I double click to open, the app does not appear to open and when I open the app’s download folder all the following are empty: Application Support, Caches and Preferences.

I have deleted and re-installed the app three times.

Am I doing something wrong? Any advice appreciated.
