I’m looking for advise where should I place Nextcloud Data. I have virtual environment and disk speed is always the same. I can increase partition size and it doesn’t mater if this is system or data one.
In this case, is any benefit to put data on separate virtual drive? Could you advise what will be better solution in production please?
correct.
there is an advice to place the data folder outside the web root path. so in the case someone finds a bug he can’t access your data bypassing nextcloud.
to put it on a separate partition (away from os and db) is also a good advice.
according to Filesystem Hierarchy Standard - Wikipedia
/srv/nextcloud and/or /var/opt/nextcloud are good paths.
