Summary of the issue you are facing:

I have set up NextCloud AIO behind NGINX reverse proxy, one internal on the same docker host as the AIO (for LAN access) and one external (for internet access). The internal proxy works as expected, but I am unable to update “trusted_proxies” so the external proxy is allowed.

OCC output:

sudo docker exec -it nextcloud-aio-nextcloud php occ config:system:get trusted_proxies
127.0.0.1

10.46.49.1 
172.19.0.0/16

However the logs from nextcloud-aio-nextcloud container does not show the external proxy IP:

Accessing AIO from external proxy, I get "Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access this resource." after login.

Both internal and external NGINX proxy set to forward to:

proxy_pass http://192.168.50.5:11000$request_uri;

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

1. Update “trusted_proxies” with "sudo docker exec -it nextcloud-aio-nextcloud php occ config:system:set trusted_proxies 2 --value=“10.46.49.1”

2. Reload containers (stop and start containers from AIO interface)

3. Check log / test access via external proxy

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response
