Nextcloud-3.16.1-x64.msi dont Start missing vcomp140.dll

Update at Windows 11 Pro from Nextcloud-3.16.0 to Nextcloud-3.16.1 failed.

After update the Client did not start. Reprots instead a missing vcomp140.dll.

But the vcomp140.dll are still present (/Program Files/WindowsApps/Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.33728.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe/vcomp140.dll and /Program Files/WindowsApps/Microsoft.VCLibs.140.00.UWPDesktop_14.0.33728.0_x86__8wekyb3d8bbwe/vcomp140.dll). I did deinstalled Windows Client 3.16.1 and did a new install of 3.16.0. TO make sure 3.16.1 won’t be installed again, i deactivated automatic update.

Seems something is wrong in Windows Client 3.16.1

Confirmed. Did you file a bug already?

No, i don’t. To be honest i don’t use WIndows myself. I use Linux. Linux-Client works fine. Have had never any issues with Linux-Clients. So was never in need to report bugs. To be honest have no idea how and where report it.

Installing C++ fixed it for me, and still working after a reboot

Well that might work. But to install C++ just to make a Client working seems not to be a really good solution. Since the vcomp140.dll ist still in place. Just the Nextcloud-3.16.1-Client can’t find it. I am pretty sure the Nextcloud-3.16.0-Client will also use the vcomp140.dll and is able to find it in its default path.

Version 3.16.1 works fine for me on two laptops with Windows 10 x64, the problem with the vcomp140.dll library occurs on a computer with Windows 11 x64

A sufficient solution is the installation of vcredist. There is no need to install full C++ but just the Redistributable-Package of C++.

With installing that Nextcloud Client 3.16.1 works fine.

Confirmed, installing vcredist latest fixed Client 3.16.1 for my users.
