If it doesnât run, your Apache kids should give you a reason:

To make sure I did this right according to your guide I reinstalled Ubuntu and started fresh. All Iâve done is what the guide instructs, as far as I am aware.

Are you running a non-standard port for mySQL? Whyâs that?
When you say youâve reinstalled Ubuntu, are you suggesting you manually moved the data directory after installation, or did you set it up during the installation as per previous screenshots?
At what point does it go blank? Directly after adding caching?

To clarify, after my last post 4 days ago I reinstalled Ubuntu and wiped all data on the HDD. Then I started the NC installation again.
Iâm not sure how I did that with the host & port number, but Iâll remedy it. What port do you suggest for MySQL?

OK so youâre not really supposed to be moving the data directory willy-nilly, choose your location when installing here:
After that if you want to move the data folder youâll need to follow steps here:
The default port for mySQL is 3306 - have you changed it, as far as you know? If not, remove the dbport entry all together as itâll default to the correct port.

Hi,
As per your instructions on your website I moved /var/www/html/nextcloud/data/ to /media/data/ successfully.
I ran all the commands you instructed on your website.
At the NextCloud set up page (http://localhost/nextcloud/) I entered /media/data/ in the data folder field. After the set up was complete I accessed the admin page and there was no warning about the data file being accessible from the internet. Which is good.
Then I edited the memcahe as per your instructions on your website:
I followed all instructions then rebooted the PC and I when I type in localhost I see the apache web page. But when I type in http://localhost/nextcloud I receive a blank page.
I have no idea what i am doing wrong.

In your config file I just noticed youâve put all the fresh caching entries under the closing bracket.
Look at line 22 - );
That should be at the very bottom of the file, the last line.
Delete ); from above memcache and type it under the last ),

Edit: The only issue I see now is this. I searched my Ubuntu PC for this file but I canât seem to find it, so Iâm guessing I need to download something else to resolve this???
Nope, you can literally open the PHP.ini file and paste those entries into it.
Open:
/etc/php/7.0/apache2/php.ini
Then add as follows:
opcache.enable=1
opcache.enable_cli=1
opcache.interned_strings_buffer=8
opcache.max_accelerated_files=10000
opcache.memory_consumption=128
opcache.save_comments=1
opcache.revalidate_freq=1
; End:
See âEndâ there? Do make sure you paste it between the last existing line and âEndâ as above, otherwise youâll see more errors.

Just to clarify, I add this to the [opcache] section of the /etc/php/7.0/apache2/php.ini and NOT at the very bottom of the page where i also see ; End:
Also do I delete the existing text under [opcache] section or just add

to the bottom of the section.
Just need to clarify so I donât screw this up.
Add it where you want, to do it properly you could find every line in the file and uncomment it, but if you pop it at the very bottom of the file as I said above youâll get going much faster (even if itâs âout of placeâ with the file).
Just make sure you donât duplicate End where you paste it, or add end where there shouldnât be one, if you donât follow what I said above and choose to put it somewhere else.

Got it, thanks for the clarification.
The most elegant way btw is to add the linesto /etc/php/7.0/mods-available/opcache.ini
There they will be automatically added in case the module is actually active.

I added the text to /etc/php/7.0/mods-available/opcache.ini and then restarted apache and then opened NextCloud and it has resolved that issue. Thereâs no longer a warning.

One other issue Iâve run into is that I canât upload any files to NC.
Iâm not sure if it is related but i did make this edit in the php.ini file
"Open the php.ini file:
sudo vim /etc/php/7.0/apache2/php.ini
Locate and amend:
upload_max_filesize = 2048M
post_max_size = 2058M
Logs
Admin - Logging > see what errors
sudo less /var/log/apache2/error.log
Will also show Apache errors
