NCP down then SSH down after upgrade

Hello everyone,

I’ve been using NCP for 3 years like a breeze (automatic update), but nothing is working anymore. It happened in two steps:

  • first: I wasn’t able to reach my nextcloud through my home wifi anymore (–> invalid certificate). But it would work when connected to the internet with my phone or from a computer outside my house.
  • Second step: I didn’t know how to fix this home wifi problem so I upgraded the system (raspbian) with a command line directly from my RPi. Nothing is working anymore now. SSH is down as well. It is very likely due the fact that the server can’t access the internet.

I am no geek at all and I have no idea how to proceed. Could someone help please ?

Thank you !

Nextcloud version (eg, 20.0.5): replace me

Apache/2.4.38 Raspbian
PHP version : ???

The output of your Nextcloud log in Admin > Logging:

I think without linux knowledge you can not solve the problem. If you have no ssh access you must mount the sd card with the operaton system on another system. Search the web. But normally a linux and not windows client is used.

I have no Pi and this is from 2014. Perhaps it changed. It is only a way to search the hopefully right direction.

Thank you for your answer.
I can access my RPi through a keybord and a screen though… what I meant was that the internet seems to be down and I don’t know how solve this problem.

Ok. Then search ssh service how to stop, start, configure. Post details.

Sometimes storage get full and norhing works. Look:

df -h

The 2 most full drives are :
/boot 60%
/media/myCloudDrive 45%

The pb is internet access.

ping 8.8.8.8 → connect: Network is unreachable

ok no internet access. perhaps also no access to lan.
Please post more details to your network.

man ip

How do you want me to use the ip command ?

ip a

What OS are you running?

It seems like eth0 does only get an IPv6 address. Is that intentional? If not… Did you try to set a static IP? Maybe something is wrong in your network configuration or an IP conflict with another device in your network occured…

Thanks !
The OS is Raspbian Gnu/Linux 10, the network problem occured right after the upgrade.

No I didn’t do anything (at least intentionnaly  …) and it used to work as is. What should I do to check if anything’s wrong with the configuration ?

is it supposed to work via Wi-Fi or do you use a network cable?

It works via wifi

It seems your Wi-Fi interface (wlan0) is down for some reason. Maybe this is of any help to fix it…

https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/wireless/wireless-cli.md

I asume you have no desktop enviroment installed…?

Thanks for the link, I will take a close look.
No I can only type in the commands.

Ah ok… Then I would first try to restore the connection with the raspi-config tool, as it is suggested in the article. If that doesn’t work, you could try to fix it manually, using the the detailed explanations below… Good luck.

I think it is going to be too difficult for me …
Do you think i can try to reinstall everything from scratch. My concern is the time it will take me, but more importantly I do not want to loose my database with the content of my “cloud” stored on an external disk. I’am not sure I will be able to recpver my data (moreover it is encrypted…)

Thanks for your help !

I tried this, and don’t know what to do with it:

sudo iwlist wlan0 scan

did you try to use the raspi-config tool?

Have a look here…

https://www.seeedstudio.com/blog/2021/01/25/three-methods-to-configure-raspberry-pi-wifi/

…in the section Other Methods to Set Up Raspberry Pi Wi-Fi - Method 2

Great !!! this second link was more helpful, it did work, the wifi is now up and running !!!
Thanks a lot for this first step !
Now I checked ssh it works as well !
but Php 7.3 does not seem to work. Could you help please ?

You can also install the package “apt-show-versions” and test the correct release.

apt-show-versions |grep buster

→ show all packages from buster

apt-show-versions |grep -v buster

→ show all packages not from buster

Also execute:

apt-get autoremove

Ok, thanks. I did run autoremove as well.
What do you think i should do ? This is what I get:

apt-show-versions |grep -v buster
