I just made fresh installation of NextCloud 18 on my server and I turned Server-side encryption and End-to-End Encryption modules and I supposed that’s enough to encrypt data on nextcloud. Unfortunately when I look into folder where I put data files where still unencrypted…
Should I do something more or this feature doesn’t work yet?
End-to-end encryption is on the client-side. It is still under development, I’d use a different stable program for that (like cryptomator). Server-side encryption was designed for external storage and I’d only use it for this. It adds a lot of complexity of the setup, so you must make sure you have a good backup (AND restore) strategy.
