Hello, I noticed that NC 31.0.0 has been available since February. Is this version still in beta mode? I see it is on the official Changelog site, but the overview information is still saying 30.0.6 is current. I only get notifications for apps that need updating, not the Nextcloud version itself. My instance is a standard installation (Apache, PHP 8.3 and MariaDB) running on a Proxmox VM. Any thoughts please?
You can find the official Nextcloud versions at Maintenance and Release Schedule.
Before there are new Nextcloud versions, there are beta versions and RC versions. At some point there will be a version, e.g. Nextcloud 31.0.0 . As with other software, this may have bugs.
If you can or want to risk the errors, you can switch directly to Nextcloud 31.0.0. However, many will only switch to Nextcloud 31.0.1, which is due to be released today.
Professional users usually only switch with the subsequent release or even later. They are therefore currently using Nextcloud 29 or Nextcloud 30. You can find out the version for any Nextcloud at https://cloud.server.tld/status.php
.
Normally Nextcloud 30.0.0 should be displayed by now. However, the rollout of the versions is artificially delayed.
You can force Nextcloud 30 by temporarily switching to the beta channel. However, I would advise against this for productive systems.
Thanks so much for your quick response. Yes, I do wait for the next roll-out (.1) due to the potential bugs, but usually I still get those alerts for newer NC versions. This time I didn’t. Also, when I switch to the beta, it’s giving me 30.0.7 RC version. I will wait and see. Thanks again!
