I am slightly worried about a potential issue of lost files. Yes, I understand Nextcloud isn’t a backup solution, though it can be useful as a quick way of having data stored in multiple locations.
The web client is public facing and prone to attack moreso than my desktop. If someone did manage to gain access to the server, they could delete all my files. When nextcloud syncs, it would cause the files to be deleted from my desktop. At the moment, this causes the files to be deleted entirely.
Can’t the nextcloud client, as a safety precaution, have the option to move the files to the local wastebin (on linux, /home/$USER/.local/share/Trash/ , Recycle Bin on Windows) rather than permanently deleting them?
