Metadata columns for files - does not exist ?

Am I right in assuming that there is no such thing as metadata columns and sorted file views like in SharePoint (since 2007)?
If so, what is the alternative ?

Unfortunately, I don’t know what you’re getting at. You can install the app Metadata.

I looked it up and the Files API in version 28 introduces metadata value pairs and the metadata app can display the metdata.

BUT i guess not many organizations are using nextcloud for any serious document management like sharepoint? or am I dead wrong :slight_smile:
(I’m very very new to NextCloud)

I really want to find a good alternative to M365 - Not a fan of the current and future policy changes in the US.

Yes, you are. Many big service providers, enterprises (privat and public sector), universities, etc. worldwide are using Nextcloud as an alternative to MS products. Check out the Nextcloud website, where you will find Success Stories, Whitepapers, Solutions etc. :sunglasses:

What about metadata ? I know about the api but i cant figure out how to filter and display or even add manually metadata (not just tags) to documnts.

also, what about views based on filters ? maybe i’m just dead wrong one more time :smiley:
