MacOS Desktop client 3.4.0 crashing

I just updated to the latest version of the Mac Desktop client, version 3.4.0 but every time I open it, it just starts and shows the green check indicating it connected to the server. It can stay there but if I click on it to try to open it, it immediately crashes.
I cannot find anywhere on the Nextcloud download page a link to a prior version and I unfortunately did not keep a copy of the previous installer.

I did the update without any hassle (Monterey 12.0.1) but maybe it helps to get rid of all corresponding files and re-install the client again. Try to find these files and delete them for a clean re-start?

thank you Oliver, I have deleted all related Nextcloud files, uninstalled and started again, but the result is the same: once I launch it and it goes to “green”, if I click on the app to open it, it just vanishes and is not running anymore. I am on Catalina 10.15.7 (older but reliable Mac).

I think you can download older versions from the GitHub page.

Best, Bernd

upon further investigation, I found the crash log file, where it actually indicates the application received an “abort” signal, maybe someone with more knowledge might find some indication of the culprit:

While 3.4.0 is the latest version released yesterday, you may go with the predecessor at https://github.com/nextcloud/desktop/releases/download/v3.3.6/Nextcloud-3.3.6.pkg - maybe this helps as a first step?

Thanks a lot Oliver, this actually did the trick. So for now I will remain in this version until another is published.

For me, the same crash occurs. Hoping to see it fixed in 3.4.1 :grinning:

Information for all others using different setup:

Just did an update on macOS Big Sur v11.6.1 and the client is working pretty well.
Old version v3.3.6, new version 3.4.0

Have a lot of data in my NC (200k files, 700GB in total) and no big resync took place.

I cannot update to BigSur as my Mac model does not support it, I am stuck at MacOS Catalina 10.15.7 but that shouldn’t be a stopper, should it?

No. Catalina is fine.
