It is very frustrating.
The “free up local space” is something to click on that never does anything.
Why is the client never able to understand that it is filling up the disk and insists on downloading big files?
I’ve been fighting with this bug for about 4 years on several laptops.

Dear vawaver, I tried answering your question.
Please, try to answer my question.
In the source code, there is a guardrail that stops any download if the disk space is near to be full?
If yes, from which version?
When I click into “Free up local space”, where is this command queued?
Why is it postponed to a full sync that will never be completed with no space?
