Linux packages status

I think I see my error - I clicked on the link, saw a “Debian” link, thought that contain everything related to to Debian and ignored the “nextcloud” tab I already was on.

Dang, do I feel stupid now

(Sorry for any confusion I may have caused.)

Hello m4lvin,

i use your howto and repo
But i got errors on installing / upgrade my nextcloud client:

I have try to rename the file, the same. Using apt-get -f install no change.
System is Debian 9.2 64bit (up to date).

Ah, i see, i have mixed the repos, first i use the ivaradi repo. Just remove the repo from m4lvin.

Sorry, but i think, the repo from m4lvin is MUCH better documented. @ivaradi a normal user cant find your mirror.

Sorry for the late answer, I am not here that often and the forum did not notify me

Your aptitude log looks like you first should remove the packages from the other repository.

In my repository there is only one package called nextcloud-client which contains everything. In others repositories some things are split into a libnextcloudsync0 package. So if you (or others reading this
) want to install my package you should apt-get remove --purge libnextcloudsync0 before.

(If I understand correctly, a better solution would be to list libnextcloudsync0 in the Provides or Conflicts field of my package. I might fix this with the next release.)

Hey I tried the snap install for nextcloud on linux mint 18.3 and everything seemed to install. However, I can’t seem to get it running
is there a newbe step-by-step that might help? At this point a I installed apache2 with mysql using bitnami and it works - but, there is no package for “nextcloud”. I’ve tried downloading and installing separately but I can’t get past the user access permissions issues event though I go a root in the terminal and assign 775, etc

Any ideas to get nextcloud working?

@donshepard please log an issue here if you need help with the snap.

The Debian client repository at http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/ivaradi/ does not seem to work for me on Raspberry Pi 2 (with Rasbian-jessie). I used the instructions for Debian 8 given on https://software.opensuse.org//download.html?project=home%3Aivaradi&package=nextcloud-client and I got the same error as reported in Nextcloud client on Raspbian.

I did successfully install nextcloud client on Raspberry Pi 2 using the build instructions at https://github.com/nextcloud/client_theming#building-on-debian .

I just tested Ubuntu 18.04 and saw that nextcloud is not included in the official software repositories, ownCloud and integration into other applications like dolphin, nautilus and others can be found there. Do you think about adding nextcloud as well?

@Plastikschnitzer Well, only the client actually. As it will stay at that version number (except for a few minor updates) for five years, it will be horrible outdated over time depending on which features will be necessary/important in the future. So there is a need for an external repository/Snap/Flatpak anyway.

Is a 32-bit Debian client available (preferably as a .deb)? Every way I go I’m only encountering 64-bit versions.

Hi @elmussol, the repository from @ivaradi has 32-bit packages: https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/ivaradi/Debian_9.0/i386/

Well hunted. Thank you @m4lvin.

FYI, the OpenSolaris version (pkgin in php72-nextcloud) runs very fine as well.

Cloudron has an installation package since a long time and we update it regularly. It is also one of the most popular packages installed on Cloudrons so far. Is there a possibility to have our package link ( https://cloudron.io/store/com.nextcloud.cloudronapp.html ) mentioned in the list here? The source of the packaging is located at https://git.cloudron.io/cloudron/nextcloud-app

Please note that I no longer maintain my repository with Debian packages of the desktop client. There are now packages in stretch-backports and buster which I recommend. You can find instructions how to switch at https://m4lvin.github.io/nextcloud-client-debian-packaging/.

Sad to see you go but nice to see that there are now official Debian packages!

Hi there,

@ijurisic, i am a happy user of your Debian repository for installing/updating/upgrading a Nextcloud instance on my homebox, and i wanted to know what are your plans about Debian 10, that was released some days ago:

  • Are you going to open a repo for Debian Buster?
  • Have you already considered the changes that will be necessary for porting your nextcloud-server package to Debian 10?
  • Do you need some help about this? If so, where can we talk about it? Do you have some kind of SCM for your packages?

Thanks in advance,

I’m new here and I use a translator to help me talking English.
Hello.
I know it’s rude to have a big problem/wish right at the beginning.
But I am missing termux distribution.
I’ve been trying to install Nextcloud on an Android media player (himedia Q10 Pro) for a couple of weeks now.
I think the player is certainly faster than an RPi and runs at my home anyway the whole time. Nextcloud would be a highlight.
I have tried very different solutions and always fail in very different places.
I hope the way via termux will work.
There is a “php -S 0.0.0.0:8080 ~/nextcloud” approach, that shows me: it could work. That’s the way I got Nextcloud to work on the player. That would almost be enough for me.
However, if I want to use apps, https is expected. That’s why I like to use nginx + php-fpm + sqlite / mysql (mariadb). And it would be faster, I hope.
When I’m working on termux, at the moment this error stops me: “You are using a fallback implementation of the intl extension.” I had already tried recompiling php-fpm, but there are other limits.
I can use an ubuntu (ubuntu-in-termux) or debian (debian-in-termux) via proot under termux. For both solutions, an error with mariadb stops me. MariaDB can not be made working by compiling.
I had already tried to run under ubuntu (ubuntu-in-termux) with the help of snap nextcloud.
But I’ll have to learn a lot of information because both, the installation of snap and apparmor do not automatically lead to a funtioning system.
I have to do a lot of work after installation - I do not know anything about apparmor and snap, how it works and how to support.
I’m using termux on the console, the media player is not rooted, it does not have a working /etc/init.d system and I’m not a guru.
Is there a termux solution in future?
My impression so far is:
mariadb also appears to be having problems with termux - this may be related to user u0-a50 (non-root). My first attempt with sqlite had worked though - without httpd and php-fpm.
Php-fpm has this batty intl problem that I get regulated neither by init- nor by conf-file. Compiling brings me and the player to the limit (too little memory apparently).
A test installation with Dokuwiki shows me that nginx and php-fpm actually work roughly.
ubuntu-in-termux and debian-in-termux seems to be unfinished. You can not take that.
There is still a Fedora solution for termux, where docker is supposed to work, but I know neither docker, nor fedora on the command line.
I would be happy about ideas that bring me further - or about a finished solution.

@jospoortvliet Hey, please change https://www.techandme.se/nextcloud-vm/ to https://www.hanssonit.se/nextcloud-vm/ in the first post.

Thanks! :rocket:

Solus has the desktop client available:

@jospoortvliet Hi, the official recommended repository for downloading Nextcloud client packages for Ubuntu/Debian has changed from Launchpad PPA to openSUSE Build Service.

The new repository points to the beta version (2.7.0) instead of the stable version (2.6.1). Is this an error in the URL?

Thanks.

Edit (2019-12-04T00:00:00Z): the official repository is back to Launchpad PPA.
