Information about the server won’t help here, the desktop appimage can’t even try to connect.

The Desktop Appimage 4.0.5 for Linux jumps off the ladder with

bin/Nextcloud-4.0.5-x86_64.AppImage
bin/Nextcloud-4.0.5-x86_64.AppImage: symbol lookup error: /tmp/.mount_NextcliHdFCH/usr/bin/../lib/libgobject-2.0.so.0: undefined symbol: g_string_copy

The 4.0.4 worked like a charm.

System: An actual Linux Mint

Linux gong 6.8.0-90-generic #91-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Tue Nov 18 14:14:30 UTC 2025 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Permissions are OK, I simply switched back to 4.0.4.

This is just a hint, I intentionally kept it short.

Same issue here

Edit: My windows machine gets stuck in an endless loop when trying to install the update as well.

same issue, i had to switch back to 4.04, Linux Mint 21.3 cinnamon

Working on a solution is great, but how about pulling the Linux appimage in the mean time so other people like me don’t blindly install the broken version?

remember, the community forum is a community of volunteer enthusiasts helping and supporting fellow users, sharing their knowledge and expertise in the spirit of open source… we’re not developers and they don’t usually hang out here. also community support is not affiliated and in no way obligatory! unless you have a corporate subscription, in which case you’d contact your corporate Nextcloud support.

Don’t know either, but for the time being, you can download the previous version from here: Release Release 4.0.4 · nextcloud-releases/desktop · GitHub.

Thanks for that! I had looked for it (stupidly deleted previous version when I upgraded) but couldn’t find. That works - thanks!
