Link to newest file in folder

Is there an option to create a link that directly leads to the newest file in a folder.

Example: I have a folder called protocols and a static link leads to the newest pdf file in the protocol folder.

nextcloud.de/protocol → opens newest pdf in specified folder „protocols“

I think that is not possible. Do you want it for an internal link or an external share?

For an external share you can set it manually. You can use the app Configurable Share Links. Instead of using a share https://cloud.server.tld/s/abcdefghijklmno you can set it e.g. to https://cloud.server.tld/s/protocol. But you must change it manually every time. Perhaps a workaround.

The easiest way would be to simply link to the folder containing the protocols instead of to the latest file, which also has the advantage of providing access to all the protocols with one link.

If you want to show the latest one directly, without users having to scroll or sort (they still have to click on it), you could create a subfolder called Archive, into which you move the previous file when you upload a new one.

If you don’t want users to have access to the old protcols (for whatever reason), just do it the other way round and create a subfolder for the latest protocoll instead of the archive, and then share that.

@devnull 's solution also works if you really need to link directly to the latest protocol, but then you have to manually unshare the old file and create a new share each time you upload a new file, and also rename the new link again to match it your link.
