Issues with sync on iOS 14

Hi,

I’m selfhosting a nextcloud instance and I’m beginning my journey to degoogle me.

So I imported my calendar and contacts using migration tools and now I’m trying with no success to add caldav and contactdav to my iphone.

I followed this guide
https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/19/user_manual/pim/sync_ios.html

and using https://cloud.mydomain.it/remote.php/dav as url.

But it does not work (message is unable to connect via SSL). Any hint?

Only use the domain part for iOS as it is using service discovery. So, in your case, as url just use cloud.mydomain.it

I tried also with the domain only. No changes.

Error message says something like: “verification of account CalDAV failed”. I do have TOTP on my account. Maybe this the reason?

EDIT: I answered my self. Yes:

https://docs.nextcloudpi.com/en/two-factor-authentication-for-nextcloud/

Maybe this detail should be added to this page? (https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/19/user_manual/pim/sync_ios.html )

This worked for me:
Settings → Personal → Security → “Create new app password” → Copy the credentials and use them within the iOS.
It seems when you connect to the cloud not from web browser you need to set “app password” in order to connect. I did the same when for the Ubuntu online accounts as initially did not work with my regular password.
