Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can

Nextcloud version (eg, 18.0.2): 18.0.3
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 20.04): Ubuntu 18.04.1
Apache or nginx version (eg, Apache 2.4.25): Apache, version unknown
PHP version (eg, 7.1): 7.3

The issue you are facing:

  1. When adding files with a space between the filename and the dot of the file extension (like Test .txt), then it’s shown in the Web GUI without that space and you can generate duplicate files in the GUI. In the database the name ist stored correctly, but on the Android client the file gets synced only once. Desktop client and iOS client is working correctly.

  2. If you add a file in the Web GUI with a trailing dot in the filename, it gets never synchrinized to a Windows client. iOS is showing this correctly.

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N): N

Steps to replicate it:

Case 1:

  1. Using the (+) button in the web GUI just create two text files with the filenames “Test.txt” and “Test .txt”
  2. See the result in file list of the web GUI

Case 2:

  1. Using the (+) button in the web GUI just create a text file with the filename “Test.”
  2. Compare the folder content if the web GUI and the Windows client.

Cheers,
Armin

In addation:
Case 1 affects files only, folders are shown correctly.
Case affects folders as well, so folders with a trailing dot didn’t get synchonized on a Windows client.

Nothing happens so far. Did I drop this bug report in the right forum?

Cheers,
Armin
