Is there a way to upgrade from version 16 to version 30?

Hi, I’ve “inherited” the self-hosted Nextcloud of a tiny non-profit. It’s running version 16.0.4. The /index.php/settings/admin/overview page offers to upgrade only to 16.0.11. Do you think it’s possible to upgrade up to version 30? Thanks!

Yes, by updating from 16 to 17 to 18 to 19 and so on.

Good luck!

Not a good idea. I think in one upgrade it breaks. You also must upgrade the OS and e.g. PHP at the correct time.

Thanks! Where can I see for each Nextcloud version which versions of the OS and PHP are compatible?

This information can certainly be found on the Nextcloud developer page, but do you really want to do that to yourself?

It will be easier if you set up a fresh Linux and install the latest version of Nextcloud there and just transfer the data over.

Thanks @Sanook yes your plan sounds easier. I’m not familiar with Nextcloud. Is that just a matter of copying the data directory? Will that bring all the users and permissions as well?
