I bought a new iphone and installed the nextcloud app. It fails to login. It gives no message. I put username and password and it simply returns to the login screen immediately. The cardav and caldav works as expected. Why doesn’t it login? what can I do to solve it? My nextcloud server version is 16.0.3

If you said it is on a new phone, on your old iphone it worked with this app?
Normally you have a login flow, it means you login with your normal user account and then it creates an app password. It is possible that one some of the redirects it is not working. Your normal login via webinterface is working? You are using two-factor authentication?
What you could try is to create an app password manually (personal settings) and use directly this for your login (you username + app-password).
