iOS App 6.6.4 not opening after update

Hi there! I have a major issue with my iOS client that does not start on iOS 17.7.2 after updating to the latest version 6.6.4 and I am looking for help. It shows the Nextcloud logo for less then a second and crashes, so I am brought back to the Home Screen.

I tried to resolve this by offloading the app (not deleting the user content) and reinstalling it, but it did not do the job.

Any ideas what I can do? Is there any way to obtain a log to help further investigating?

Thanks for any hint!

Hey, do you have access to a Mac and can get the console output from the iOS device by chance ?

I had the same problem and could solve it with uninstalling the app, rebooting the device and reinstalling the app.

Thanks for the quick reply. I do have access to Mac. Can you give me some instructions? What do you want me to put into the console?

If you open the terminal (not console, sorry, it should be in Applications → Utilities) and connect your phone, try to start the Nextcloud app and see what is logged. You can filter for “Nextcloud” for easier finding. It should show the reason for termination.

It could be a missing database migration, in that case your options are:

  • Wait for the next update
  • Remove and re-install the app
  • Install the latest testflight and see if it fixes it

Same issue here on iOS 18.5.

  • Talk worked fine. No issues.
  • Notes: Had to delete app and relogin to get it to work.
  • Nextcloud App: Had to delete and relogin. Had to upload ALL photos again because there’s no option to set the date to upload from. That should be added as a feature.

Same, the app won’t open. I tap the icon, there’s a splash screen and then it vanishes. The app just crashes.

Please see above
