First of all, apologies for my lack of IT knowledge - I just can’t seem to get nextcloud working by using instructions available. I’m running OSX and 1&1 web hosting, and have uploaded the setup-nextcloud.php to a directory on my website folder, but can’t get it to load beyond initial page. When I run this, my website becomes inactive, and I don’t get to stage of setting up nextcloud account.

Can anyone please give simple step by step instructions for an idiot?

The setup-nextcloud.php file should work out of the box. If it’s not, then it’s likely something on the hosting set up needs adjusted. 1&1 would be best able to help you with this.

You can try to download Nextcloud as a zip file, extract it, and upload it manually to your webspace. It is possible that some webspace providers block certain functions that are used by the installer script.
