I have this issue with the desktop client (ubuntu) since ages:
If I want to skip one folder the message on the bottom appears and tells me
that my local folder will get deleted. Help! Why? I just want to skip the sync to the remote server for this folder.
Is there a way to skip folders with the desktop app?
I don’t think there is an option to exclude specific folders from the sync, at least I haven’t been able to find it. But you could use the file filter to exclude specific files (by name, type, etc.). Maybe this could be a solution.
This actually sounds like a reasonable feature-request for future versions.
You can exclude folders in the client by unchecking them.
If you want to keep the existing local copy, I think you will need to move it somewhere that isn’t synced.
In my case, this is not really a solution. Nevertheless, thank you for your support.
