How to map in Windows if I use Active Directory to login

Hello,

Our collaboration/experiment just set up and begin trying to allow us to use nextcloud and it seems that I use Active Directory (our Lab.'s domain account) to login.

After I login, the URL is :
https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/index.php/apps/files/?dir=/&fileid=12574910

My username is “kinyip” , though I don’t see it in the above link.

I can use the “NextCloud app” in Windows 10 to get access to the NextCloud folders/files.

But when I try to map drive in Windows, using (based on the NextCloud manual):

https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/remote.php/dav/files/kinyip

it asked me for username and password, but it never worked and complained that the above
path couldn’t be found.

I’ve also tried : https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/remote.php/webdav/

But it also failed in the same way.

I wonder whether it’s possible to map to “https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov” (folder/file) from Windows ? If it’s possible, what have I done wrong ? Is “https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/remote.php/dav/files/kinyip” wrong ? What should the https link be (in order to map) ??

Kin

When you’re logged in and I think in the Files app, if you click the gear at the bottom left, it shows your WebDAV link.

Hello,

There it said :
https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/remote.php/webdav/
.

It seems generic and I’ve tried. But this didn’t work either, as I mentioned before.

Is there something that I should add ?

Kin

No, the link shown on the page should work as is. Try generating an app password and using that to log in.

Also if the user is Active Directory, are you using the user name as displayed on the Nextcloud user list?

Hi,

I use our laboratory’s domain (also, active directory) username “kinyip” and password to login. ( I didn’t create any new password for this. )

When I go to https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/ ,

I have to click on the logo “BNL login” below the normal login place. Then, I also have to click on “active directory” (on the right of the normal login interface); and then our Lab’s webpage shows up and I put in my domain username/password
(and then use DUO for the 2nd step to login).

At the end, I see this webpage for me :

https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/index.php/apps/files/?dir=/&fileid=12574910

Is 12574910 the NeXtcloud user ?

I never see “kinyip” mentioned anywhere !

I can’t tell you what attribute from AD is being used for your Nextcloud users or what that attribute’s value is for your account. It will be listed in Nextcloud under users, or you can see it with occ.

Hi,

  • I can’t tell you what attribute from AD is being used for your Nextcloud users or what that attribute’s value is for your account. It will be listed in Nextcloud under users, or you can see it with occ.

I am only a single client/user that I see the BNL Box :
https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/index.php/apps/files/?dir=/&fileid=12574910

Where do I get to see the “NextCloud user list” ? What is “occ” ?? I feel stupid ….

I attach a screenshot of what I see online at
https://bnlbox-test.sdcc.bnl.gov/index.php/apps/files/?dir=/&fileid=12574910
and I don’t see any user list (or “occ” ???).

Okay, if you don’t have admin access to the system, then you need to troubleshoot this with your Nextcloud administrator.
