The issue you are facing:

Steps to replicate it:
- create a guest account and set a password, can login as fine
- change the password
- can not login as guest, wrong username or password
The output of your Nextcloud log in Admin > Logging:
Login failed: user (Remote IP: ***.***.***.***)
Cron job was ran seconds ago but can not log in. Shouldn’t this change be immediately available?
