having trouble with the permission settings and “disappearing” folders.
Setup:
group folder. different groups have access, all groups have full access over the group folder setup menu
I am two groups, admin and LuL with full access
I am personally set over the advanced permission tab
over the “details” tab of the group folder all group’s permissions are restricted and denied but read, so I can set them up individually in the sub folder
I am personally set with full access over the group folder’s details tab
Problem:
If I create a folder inside the group folder and deny every groups permission to read that folder but my very personal permission, that folder is gone. I can not read it. Tested it three times. I am a member of two of the groups with read permissions. If I deny on of those two groups the read permission while the other groups read permission is set to allow (not inherit) the folder is still gone – while I am still personally set to have full access. Other members who are not part of both groups have correct read access to their corresponding group permissions.
How do I untangle my permission? Need full access to everything in that group folder, still need to be part of the admin group while other members of the admin group should not have full access to the full group area.
How do I get those folders back (if I do not have access to the file directory / distribution administration).
I’m not sure in terms of groupfolders but deny often overrides allow so the fact itself is not surprising for me… at the end in case of conflict there must be some priority. but it seems to be different in case of groupfolders:
If multiple configured advanced permissions for a single file or folder apply for a single user (such as when a user belongs to multiple groups), the “allow” permission will overwrite any “deny” permission. Denied permissions configured for the group folder itself cannot be overwritten to “allow” permissions by the advanced permission rules.
likely in your case explicit permissions override permissions inherited from upper level.
Well, what a nice surprise. Tried all possible permission settings (member of two groups + personal permission) multiple times and had … different results. Maybe the order in which you click them (can’t run occ) is more important as it should be or the like, I don’t know.
Tried again and made a quick list. Honestly, I don’t know if this is me. Can somebody confirm?
Right now, I am asking myself how to light administrate / mod a group folder with hundreds of members, tons of folders and jiggle permissions correct for a variety of groups and individuals with this inconsistency.
