Hello everybody, i’m new to nextcloud and i’m trying to set-up my own on prem cloud with a raspberry and a 1TB HDD.
Trying to migrating my data from Google, i have installed the google integration app and starting to import my photo from Google Photo. The process taken some time but seems that all my photo were imported, BUT i noticed that there are lots of duplicates with strange names.
To give you an example, i have an image called
Same issue. Guessing I can safely go through and delete all of the photos with the super long names starting with “A…whatever” (as it does appear that they are simply duplicates). However, it would be super cool if someone could expound on the issue first, just so I’ll know I’m not deleting anything important. Thx!
It sounds like the Google integration app is appending additional metadata to some imported files, leading to duplicates with long, encoded filenames. You might want to check if there’s an option to prevent renaming during import. Also, try running a duplicate file finder in Nextcloud or manually sorting by name to batch-delete duplicates. If the issue persists, checking the app’s documentation or Nextcloud logs might help identify the cause.
I have a similar problem as you.
So there is an option to export Photos from Google. You can create an archive of photos and albums directly from Google.
