I’ve been using nextcloud files for quite some time now and it works great. Just filesharing.
I’d like to advance in Nextcloud and one of the things I’d like to have is an alternative to Zoom. In which I’ll need recordings. Appearently that’s not possible with default Talk.
So I’d like to install BBB as I found out that does recording of videocalls, which is what I’m looking for.
I find this page: BigBlueButton Integration - Apps - App Store - Nextcloud
But I’m having a hard time how to actually install it on my selfhosted instance. I can download one of the instances, but then I have a bunch of files that somehow need to be moved to my instance with terminal line codes.
Eventually I figured I go into top right my profile, Apps. But in here I can’t find any simple search bar in which I can search for BBB or Big Blue Button.
I find the interface very overwhelming here, having Discover, Yours apps, Active apps, disabled apps, ap bundles, featured apps, customization etc etc.
Eventually after checking them all out and using command F to search for big blue button, I finally found it in the Integration tab.
I thought: great, now I can just download and enable it and have it done.
But after downloading and enabling BBB, I have no idea what to do. I can disable it, but I want to configure it. So I need to search again somewhere through the interface, I go to Your apps, then click BBB integration and it only opens a tab with Description, Details, Changelog.
Okay, sure, I’ll just hope it works out of the box then.
So I go to my profile icon, Administration Settings, below Personal I find BBB, click on it. And it gives me an error “API URL or secret not configured. Pelase contact your administrator”.
I am the administrator and I have no idea what to do.
I’ve installed Nextcloud using Coolify.
I really like the energy and vibes the Nextcloud team is giving. But these things I start to dislike Nextcloud. I’m really trying to understand the things. So that’s why I’m sharing my thoughts here.
