Today I got an activity notification that I changed a certain file in my nextcloud tree. The file was really old and I was very sure that I did not update it.
After some investigation of the firewall logs I traced the device that uploaded the new version of the file to be an android device. I do not know what happened on this device, but it only updated one non important file, so I will just ignore the why of this and simply disabled nextcloud on the device.
However, it leads to an interesting question. Would it be possible to customize the activity notification for file modifications to include the originator of this change? I.e. instead of “You changed file1” into something like “You changed file1 from <device_x>” or “You changed file1 from ip address”
This would make tracking this kind of issues much easier…
