Is nextcloud able to create friendly links based on e.g. file name?
For example: a public link for a file called MyName.pdf generates https://domain/base/s/873teh8w3bc37yt8bc38
and the ideal would be if it generated https://domain/base/s/myname.pdf
Imagine creating thousands of links to files, which would take several weeks, and creating a friendly link knowing the beginning and end - a few minutes.
Searching for a file by name - why is there no “search” panel for a client who is not logged in? We share a public folder with thousands of files and you search for them… manually.
These two options would give owncloud a phenomenal advantage over OneDrive, Dropbox, Google - certainly in the versions used b2b.
Unless these options are available in some paid version, I’ll take it!
The question concerns of course the version on the hosting server on your own domain.

I don’t understand why a guest account requires logging in? That in itself contradicts the idea of creating an account for a regular user. If I share a directory publicly that works under a link (without logging in), then this view lacks a file search engine - exactly the same as those logged in. Why is such a basis not available…?
nope… there is no “Nextcloud pro version” wysiwyg (what you see is what you get)!
not sure which service provider you’re using… maybe the provider has disabled the app store in demo mode? In that case your tests will be useless. It’d be best to contact the service provider and tell them what you need… let them install the missing apps and then test.
or better even, tell them what you need and they should check if its possible. after all, you’re prepared to pay them for their service right?
I’ve sorted out friendly links. The only thing missing is a file search engine in public view without logging in. I wrote a script for the “konspect” field but it doesn’t work. Even trying to transfer the search engine code to a logged-in user only displays a window but the function itself doesn’t work. Why isn’t there something so basic for public view???!!!
