Fresh install with permission errors all over web client

Nextcloud version (eg, 20.0.5): Latest from web installer
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 20.04): Linux
Apache or nginx version (eg, Apache 2.4.25): Apache
PHP version (eg, 7.4): 7.4

I have just installed next cloud using the web installer and am getting errors all over the place.

  1. When I go into files I get “This operation is forbidden”
  2. When I go into Photos I get " An error occurred"
  3. When I try to change something in my profile I get “Unable to update {field}”

There is nothing shown in logging.

If I try the desktop app, it tells me “The URL is bad, the server is misconfigured”, but the URL it is using is the exact one from the web browser.

The above is with the admin user created during the installation; I am able to create new users, but get exactly the same results with them.

Same here, I have been searching for day on end and still no solution. Have you figured it out yet?

I will also keep you posted if I can come up with anything

No, unfortunately not.

I’ve researched what I can by searching and checked permissions on webserver and database and don’t see anything which looks amiss.

I’m near to concluding that the installer is fundamentally broken and something has not been done by it which should have been.
