Forced to re-enter url / login info a lot on android app!

At least twice per day, often more, if I should want to use the nextcloud app on my android phone after an initial success, this happens. First the app opens on the last used screen. Then when it attempts to refresh or I choose another screen, it sits doing nothing for a bit then it asks for the URL of my server, and then the log-in / grant access activity.

  1. Why can’t the android app remember the last URL used?
  2. Why does it force me to re-enter this data so often?
Latest nextcloud version as of this date… but it behaved in this way for months. I just needed it more frequently this past week.

Please state the actual version of both the client and the Server. Depending on the channel installed from, different versions may be at play + things change daily.

Has it always behaved this way for you? Or is this a recent change in behavior?

Any chance you can you provide a screenshot?

Your web server logs during these events might be helpful here. Or, better yet, get the debug log from your device either by following this procedure or, alternatively, installing a Dev build in parallel with your existing client install (the Dev builds have log access under Settings.) You can install a Dev build either from GitHub or via FDroid.

It would also be helpful if you could:

  • post the config of your server (occ config:list system)
  • share some details about your authentication setup (there are a variety of ways to authenticate accounts/access in Nextcloud and this can play a role)
  • share some basics about your deployment (install method, when you’re using a reverse proxy, etc.)

Also, do you use the Web UI at all? Are you ever force logged out of it?
