Some or all of the below information will be requested if it isn’t supplied; for fastest response please provide as much as you can

Nextcloud version (eg, 29.0.5): 28.0.11
Operating system and version (eg, Ubuntu 24.04): replace me
Apache or nginx version (eg, Apache 2.4.25): replace me
PHP version (eg, 8.3): 8.1

The issue you are facing: There are files and folders I can’t rename. Error message is LockedException “file xyz” is locked

I tryed to find the table “nc_file_locks” in the database but was unable to locate such a table to remove the locks manually.

Is this the first time you’ve seen this error? (Y/N): Y

Steps to replicate it:

  1. Try to rename a locked file

The output of your Nextcloud log in Admin > Logging:

LockedException "file xyz" is locked

The output of your config.php file in /path/to/nextcloud (make sure you remove any identifiable information!):

The output of your Apache/nginx/system log in /var/log/____:

PASTE HERE

Output errors in nextcloud.log in /var/www/ or as admin user in top right menu, filtering for errors. Use a pastebin service if necessary.

PASTE HERE

Assuming this is still valid, there is nothing much you can do about it. Just wait until the lock is released: LockedException occures unregularly - #4 by nickvergessen

The problem is, that this is a persistent problem. I already waited some time, made an update, but this lock persists. Is there any way to manually resolve this lock? Even after maintanace mode, this lock persists, so its a false lock.

Post the entire log entry with the full stack trace.

I made some changes regarding the cron job, I don’t know if this was the root cause, but at least, I was not able to replicate it again, the file could be changed now. Thanks everybody for their help.
