The Android app has a useful “Back up contacts” feature. Could this feature be extended to allow backup from arbitrary locations across the Android file system?
For instance, (1) my podcast app has an export feature, which puts an XML inside the app’s folder. Inconvenient. And (2) my mapping app writes to an XML (always up to date) which similarly lives inside the app’s silo. Remembering to back up files from random apps is a pain and so in practice does not happen.
This is a problem waiting to be solved by Nextcloud! In theory it is just a question of specifying filepaths to back up, and the periodicity. In practice I guess there is going to be a problem with permissions at least.
What do you think?
