Dear Community,
I’m currently testing a managed NextCloud instance at wolkesicher.de.
I’m now looking for a way to receive email notifications when something is posted in a chat I’m a member of and - even more - when I’m mentioned with an @.
So far, I haven’t found a setting for this, and searching online didn’t help either.
The mobile and desktop apps do offer such notifications, but not everyone wants (or is able) to install them. That’s why I’d prefer to have email notifications available — at least as an option.
Does anyone have a tip?
NC version: 31.0.2
Talk version: 21.0.1
The “Notifications” app is installed (I’ve seen this mentioned here and there), but as far as I can tell, it only controls the bell icon at the top of the interface.
Emails should go out if you have unread talk
notifications.
@SmallOne , thank you for your reply.
I think I should have been more clear. Email notifications doesn’t work in my case for new posts or mention in Talk.
They do work for shared or changed files, but nor for talk.
I looked into the admin settings / Activity , but it was not completely clear what to configure to enable talk email notifications. It is quite clear for “Files” or “Sharing”
In Talk in the “conversation settings” I found this:
But there I can not specify whether the notification is push (dektop client, app) or email.
So that email I showed a screenshot of is a notification from message I did not check for a while. I got the email around 13.40 and my colleague sent me the message at 10.36.
So you won’t get an email notification immediately. You have to wait a while.
Push and notifications are instant. Email is not
OK, understand that.
But I did some tests (created some test accounts with different email address) where I never got a notification, also not after a day, a week, …
OK, maybe I have to do more tests, now after I have tried different settings.
Thank you anyhow for your support!
