Email about federate share delivery delayed

I’m trying to share a folder from one nextcloud instance to another, using federate ID. I had a hard time until “share could not be established” and errors finding the host for the trusted list dissappeared, but finally I got it right and could share it, at least that’s what it looks like on the sharing instance.

On the receiving instance, however, I never got any notification and the shared folder wasn’t there. I had gotten a notification from my domain registrar’s mailserver about a delivery being delayed. Examining the message, what I make of it is that the mailserver assumes ed: IS TOLD THAT someone tries to send email to cloud-me@nc-recieving.my-domain.org** instead of** me@my-domain.org.

Is this a correct interpretation, and if so, how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance for any hints and input!

Here’s the message + one comment by me:

Which email settings?

  • mailserver for mydomain.org?
  • some nextcloud setting that the nextcloud admin can set?
  • or the nextcloud user email?

I’m not hosting the mailserver myself. Is this line:

Final-Recipient: abc123; cloud-me@nc-recieving.my-domain.org
Action: delayed
  • exactly how it should be, or
  • can the mailserver settings interpret incoming mail differently as to what piece of information they treat as final reciepient?

If I interpret things right, the final reciepient should be me@mydomain.org, which is the email adress that is set in the nextcloud user settings. There is no mailaccount cloud-me@nc-recieving.my-domain.org, so, this can never be delivered.

I can try and find out about the mail server settings from my host, but those settings are usually not under the control of the nextcloud users that want to share things, so that would be rather odd if it would stand or fall with those settings.

Thanks for helping, anyway. I appreciate it =)

When I send test email via the test-button, it works as intended.
The from-adress and login is admin@mydomain.org and the serveradress is mail.myserviceprovider.net
