So I set up NC with only office and my wife has been using it for word docs when she takes notes for work. All is working well but she’s really not tech savvy and the motion of downloading and then uploading in gmail bothers her for some reason. Anyway, is there a way to email the file to her gmail account? not share a link but take the doc file and mail it so she can just forward it to her distribution list?
The mail client integration has the opposite purpose, it gets large files from mails and adds a download link. You can use the mail-app in Nextcloud to send mails (ideally on your own mailserver).
In theory you could probably write an app that allows you to send a specific file via mail.
