Effect of enforcing expiration date on existing public links?

Hi,
I’d like to know how changing expiration date settings affect existing public link shares.

Let’s say

  1. Public links shares are active and do not have an expiration date
  2. The admin changes the global public links settings to enforce expiration dates

Are the existing links affected, or is this only for newly created links ?
