During nc-backup: Cannot write: Read-only file system

Quick question:

I have installed Nextcloudpi and it works perfectly. Got the app in the mobile phone and now my photos are stored in my server in an external HDD.

There is another external HDD used for backups.

Tried to do the nc-backup and got the following feedback and error:

Running nc-backup
Check free spaceā€¦
Maintenance mode enabled
backup databaseā€¦
backup filesā€¦
tar: /media/STORAGEB/nextcloud-bpk_20200829_1598709389.tar: Cannot write: Read-only file system
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
error generationg backup
Maintenance mode disabled
Done. Press any keyā€¦

Any ideas?

Hi everyone,

same problem here.
NC is running on a RPI3 and suddenly there were no more backups created (last 22nd of August).
When I run ā€œcreate backupā€ I get this message:

[ nc-backup ] (Mon Sep 7 19:25:43 CEST 2020)
check free spaceā€¦
Maintenance mode enabled
backup databaseā€¦
backup filesā€¦
tar: /media/myCloudDrive-Bkp/nextcloud-bkp_20200907_1599499543.tar: Cannot open: Read-only file system
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
error generating backup
Maintenance mode disabled

Any help is appreciated!

how do you guys mount your hdd?

I start the device (RPi 4/2gb in my case), then I plug the HDD and mount using the relevant tool, either from the Web Interface or from ncp-config.

Did I make a mistake? I was wondering to be honest if this tool gives BTRFS.

Hi Jimmy,

I used the wizard for USB drive (data) and a 2nd USB drive for the backup mounted via ā€œUSB drive formatā€.
So far it worked well but stopped with the last update.
I also tried to restore the write permissions with ā€œfix permissionsā€ with no success.

have you tried mounting 2nd hdd manually using fstab?

No, but I will try - after some research how to do it
