My machine has been having some issues with being full on space and have been considering using a service like Nextcloud.
However, does Nextcloud store the files solely in the cloud or also on the device?
I realize that my main reason to use Nextcloud is to safely keep large files in the cloud and off of my device as they take up way to much storage space.

Hello @fdjsfdsa, welcome to the Nextcloud community.
Your Nextcloud will store the file on its storage. Storage types can be different and depend on your setup. If you choose a cloud installation at a provider e. g. https://www.hetzner.de/storage/storage-share your data will be solely stored at at the cloud.
If you are using the desktop sync client you can store files on your workstation as well. You select which files/folders.
