Hello,
Nextcloud Talk approaches meetings in different uniform; Users join a chat then join call. This is not intuitive for users who are on Teams and Meet all day long.
This is one area I’ve always wandered how it can be addressed in Talk without changing current behaviour for current users. Along with Nextcloud Hub 10, it was revealed that scheduling a meeting in the Calendar would now create (optionally) a room bound to the scheduled meeting. This was the moment I realized it can be done so, the meeting rooms can be created in Call-Only mode. This mode means users can’t join room unless a call is started and users are accepted into the call.
Effectively a Call-Only room would emulate how Teams work:
- User is offered a link to join a call/room
- User joins room only to be greeted with call dialog (no chat yet)
- user is admitted into call
- now user is having the room fully open to him along with chat
- user can now see room in his Talk history
This will be kind of a deal maker to speak people who are used to Zoom, Teams, and Meet to switch to Talk or even accept using it. I’ve had situations where people requested moving to other platforms from Talk specifically because of the current user journey.
This is just mere suggestion. I’m not sure whether this is the best idea out there, but I’m hoping to spark the discussion on this.
