Summary of the issue you are facing:

Hello, I am new to Nextcloud. I installed Nextcloud as a snap on Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS. Everything worked fine except that I cannot add any apps. Discover says “Nothing to show; could not load section content from app store.” I tried enabling appstore and adding the appstore url in the config file, but this did not help. I also tried removing and re-installing Nextcloud as snap, and the issue persists. This issue occurs when server is https or http. I see from past posts in the support group that others have occasionally had this issue but I don’t think the resolutions apply (afaik, I have no geoIP restrictions). Some posts say that the issue is on the Discover/Nextcloud app server side. Thank you for any guidance for a complete newbie to this. I’m excited to see what Nextcloud can do once I have it all set up.

Steps to replicate it (hint: details matter!):

  1. Log in to NextCloud
  2. Click on Discover (result: “Nothing to show”)
  3. Click on Profile / + Apps (result: times out)

Tips for increasing the likelihood of a response

  • Use the preformatted text formatting option in the editor for all log entries and configuration output.
  • If screenshots are useful, feel free to include them.
    • If possible, also include key error output in text form so it can be searched for.
  • Try to edit log output only minimally (if at all) so that it can be ran through analyzers / formatters by those trying to help you.

hey @jpgaubier welcome to the community

sorry to hear you’re having issues with the snap. please take a look at our wiki Nextcloud snap wiki especially Requirements and give us some details see Getting help.

I’m guessing you’re having “host” DNS issues… please check your /etc/hosts and compare with Hosts & FQDN configuration to be sure.

this looks like you’re not reaching the outside world at all
