Desktop client suddently fails to connect

Ubuntu 18.04.3, desktop client appimage 2.6 or 2.5.3

For weeks this has never caused problems for me.

Today, I suddenly get this message when attmpting to connect to a server using either one of those desktop clients:

“Failed to connect to Nextcloud at https//xxxxxxxxxxx: Server replied ‘404 Not Found’ to ‘GET https://xxxxxxxxxx/nextcloud/status.php’”

I have NO idea what that message is trying to tell me, nor what I should do to figure out and fix the problem.

On the same computer, I can successfully access the nextcloud server via the web browser.

On my android device, using the nextcloud app I can successfully access the nextcloud server.

Have you tried going to the URL manually with the browser? You should get something that looks like this… (although maybe not formatted)

{
"installed": true,
"maintenance": false,
"needsDbUpgrade": false,
"version": "16.0.5.1",
"versionstring": "16.0.5",
"edition": "",
"productname": "Nextcloud"
}

Thanks schworak.

As I wrote in my original post, “On the same computer, I can successfully access the nextcloud server via the web browser.”

When I go to the website, it doesn’t look ANYTHING like what you are showing; instead, I get the normal Nextcloud page that shows all my top level folders, and the various Nextcloud options, etc.

Yes, normal access to tge cloud server doesn’t look like I showed, just that one URL.

Sorry… I guess I’m not following you… which URL do you have in mind? I don’t see any URL in either of your posts.
