Delete my User Account from help.nextcloud.com

Please delete my account - GDPR allows that a account can be deleted

I find it disturbing that accounts and posts can’t be removed from this forum. This seems to be a FOSS thing (KDE and Fedora do that too) which makes it even more disturbing and hypocritical considering how FOSS champions privacy. I never had a problem removing my forum accounts on other non-FOSS related websites.

This is particularly bad now, as LLMs can ID people by their writing style, so “anonymizing” no longer works, so there should be an option to wipe everything from a forum if a user requests so.

Anyway, do what you can, please, to remove or anonymize my account on https://help.nextcloud.com. Thank you.

You do understand that public forum discussions are fundamentally different from private support conversations. They’re intentionally public and searchable—by search engines, and nowadays by AI as well, so that they’re easy to discover and can serve as a knowledge base for others facing the same questions or problems in the future.

The value of a forum doesn’t come solely from helping the original poster. It also comes from the fact that months or even years later, someone else can find the same discussion through a search engine, read the reasoning behind the proposed solutions, and benefit from the outcome without having to ask the same question again.

If every user’s posts were deleted when they decided to leave the forum, much of that context would disappear. Questions would lose their answers, replies would lose the comments they were responding to, and many discussions would become fragmented or even meaningless.

If your setup is very special and you are afraid of revealing information but you need help anyway, there is as well the enterprise support. They help just you in exchange for money.
